36 April 1936John Peter Gaspar, 79, Sioux City resident until two years ago, died Tuesday at Santa Ana, Cal., where he was living with a son, according to word received here.
Mr. Gaspar resided in Sioux City for 20 years. He was sales representative in northwest Iowa for the Tribune for a number of years, leaving that position in 1932.
Born in Dubuque, Ia., he was educated in schools in that city. For a time he worked in lead mines in that vicinity and was instructor for two years in the Bradley Business college there.
In 1878 he moved to Kenosha, Wis., where he engaged in farming. He married Mary Bain September 21, 1881, and the couple settled at Kingsley, where Mr. Gaspar operated the first general store. It was in 1914 that he came to Sioux City. His wife died September 27, 1932.
The body will arrive in Sioux City Friday night and will be taken to Larkin's funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a. m. Saturday at St. Boniface church. Interment will
be in St. Joseph's cemetery at LeMars.Surviving are sons, Harry and Lee, both of Santa Ana, and Eugene of Sioux City; a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Paquin of Sioux City, and five grandchildren.
