16 July 1938FORMER PASTOR OF CHURCH HERE DIES ON FRIDAY
Pastor of Morningside Presbyterian church 15 years, Rev. J. Frank Reed, died Friday night in a Tekamah, Neb., hospital after an illness of several months. Under his pastorate, the present Morningside Presbyterian church was built in 1924.
The church leader left Sioux City in 1929 after accepting a pastorate at the Tekamah Presbyterian church. At that time he had the longest Sioux City service record of Presbyterian pastors. He became seriously ill last spring and spent some time in a Sioux City hospital.
Funeral services will be held at Tekamah Monday, The body will be brought here for burial at 2 p.m. in Graceland cemetery.
Rev. Reed was a former president of the Sioux City Ministerial association. He was a member of the Sioux City Consistory, 4, and an active leader in young persons work.
Survivors include the widow, a daughter and a granddaughter.
