Funeral Services Held Thursday For Hattie E. Strong

Funeral services for Hattie E. Strong, 93, of Lawton, were held Thursday, May 19, 1988 at 1:30 p.m. in Christy Morningside Funeral Home in Sioux City. The Rev. Ben Johnson, retired, officiated. Interment was in Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City.

Casket-bearers were friends of the family.

Mrs. Strong, the former Hattie E. Allen, was born August 26, 1894, in Bronson. She taught in a country school near Bronson prior to her marriage. She married Ray Strong December 15, 1915, in Bronson. The couple farmed near Sergeant Bluff and Salix for many years before moving to Lawton in 1944. They owned operated Strong Grocery in Lawton for several years. She also worked part time at the Lawton Post Office. She was a member of the Lawton Garden Club.

Mrs. Strong died Tuesday May 17, 1988 in a Sioux City hospital of sudden illness.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Raymond of Bronson; a daughter, Eleanor Armstrong of Mason City; a brother, Harold Allen of Sioux City; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
