ANTHON, Iowa — Peter B. Jansen, 86, of Anthon died Thursday in a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Midway, rural Battle Creek. The Rev. Stanley Rosenau will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in the Walter Funeral Home in Anthon.
Mr. Jansen was born Dec. 17, 1899, near Midway, rural Correctionville. He married Elsie Rossow Jan. 17, 1923, rural Midway. The couple farmed in the Anthon-Correctionville community. In 1947 they moved to Anthon. He was a partner with his son, Marvin for 17 years in the Jansen-John Deere Implement dealership at Anthon. Mrs. Jansen died Aug. 23, 1982, and he had lived at Mapleton and Correctionville nursing homes the last 21/2 years.
Mr. Jansen was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he served as trustee and elder. He was a member of the Lutheran Layman's League and was a director of the First Trust and Savings Bank in Anthon for several years.Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John (Betty) Lavigne of Rush City, Minn.; a son, Marvin of Ketchikan, Alaska; a sister, Mrs. Clara Petersen of Anthon; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
