DANBURY, Iowa — Verdett Plautz, 45, of Danbury, died Thursday at an Ida Grove hospital after being stricken at work.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury. The Rev. Robert Thiele will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Walter Funeral Home of Mapleton. A rosary will be held at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Plautz was born April 26, 1941, near Danbury. He graduated from Danbury public schools in 1961. He married Nadine Karhoff on June 25, 1966, at Danbury.
Mr. Plautz served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict, and returned to Danbury after the war. At the time of his death, he owned and operated Home Elevator in Battle Creek.
Mr. Plautz was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jeff and Brian, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Dean (Della) Wenger of Danbury; and his grandmother, Mrs. Hulda Shever of Mapleton.
