Dorothy M. Johnson, 78, died Sunday, September 10, 2000, at Council Bluffs, IA.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 13, 10:30 a.m. at Armstrong Chapel, Anthon, IA, with Pastor Kent Kastler officiating. Sharon Kruse served as organist and soloist.

Pallbearers were Sam Johnson, Norman Johnson, Jason Johnson, Larry Beutler, Allen Haase and Joe Zediker. Burial was at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Battle Creek, IA under direction of Armstrong Funeral Service.

Dorothy Mae Johnson was born January 2, 1922, at Anthon, IA, the daughter of John R. and Mildred (Everts) Miller. She grew up and received her education in the Anthon graduating with the Class of 1939. She continued to live at Anthon until January 2, 1941, when she was united in marriage to Charles N. Johnson at South Sioux City, NE. The couple farmed south of Battle Creek, IA for five years, moving to Climbing Hill, IA, where they farmed until 1957. They then moved to Bronson where they lived for 30 years.

Dorothy furthered her education by attending and graduating from Wayne State College in Wayne, NE, in 1968. She taught school in Iowa and Nebraska for several years. Charles passed away April 27, 1996. For the last four and one-half years, Dorothy has resided in the home of her son Mike in Council Bluffs, IA.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Charles F. "Mike" and Jeri of Council Bluffs and Roger and Kathy of Sioux City; one daughter and her husband, Kathy and Richard Beutler of West Point, NE, one brother and his wife, George and Pauline Miller of Acton, CA; four sisters, Kathryn Frost of San Bernadino, CA, Irene Carroll of Odebolt, IA, Winnie Sands of Sioux City, IA, and Ella Derochie and her husband, Ralph of Sioux City, IA; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren along with other relatives, neighbors and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one son, Norman, in 1942.
