Sioux City Journal
30 March 1946

A man identified as Fred Buerkle, about 65, died unexpectedly Friday while sitting on a bench in the Monarch billiard parlor, 817 Fourth street, police said.

Michael A. O'Toole of the O'Toole-Gunn funeral home said Saturday noon that it had been established that the man's name was Burkle. However, he said, there was some variation of the spelling on envelopes addressed to the man.

Coroner J. E. Swanson stated that the man had suffered a heart attack.

No identification was found on the body, police said, but a note-book which the man carried indicated that he had been a farm hand.

The body was taken to the O'Toole-Gunn funeral home.
