29 December 2003Alice V. Woodson, 81, of Sioux City died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Westwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Verna Mae Dedrick officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Alice was born April 20, 1922, in Monticello, Ark., the daughter of James and Josephine (Morgan) Thomas. She grew up and graduated from high school in Arkansas. She came to Sioux City in the 1950s and had lived here since.
She married Homer Woodson on May 10, 1958, in Dakota City. He died Dec. 23, 1975, in Sioux City.
She was a member of Malone A.M.E. Church, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher, secretary, stewardess and trustee board member. She worked as a foster parent, opening her heart and home to children. She was greatly loved by her family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Homer Woodson Jr. of Sioux City; a daughter, Loretta Woodson of Hopewell, Va.; eight grandchildren, Garrett, Selena and Seth Woodson, Andre Currier, Alicia, Michael and Venessa Ege and Uriah Woodson; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and six sisters.
Pallbearers will be Homer Woodson Jr., Lee E. Thomas, Frederick Thomas, Timothy Thomas, Aaron Thomas and Gayland Stokes.
