Norma J. Dunlap, 86, of Sioux City died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at a Sioux City nursing home following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. today at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Alex Washington officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Norma J. Dunlap was born Feb. 26, 1917, in rural Woodbury County, the daughter of George and Laura (Edwards) Reed. She moved to Casper, Wyo., and finished her schooling there. She then moved back to Correctionville, Iowa, and lived there until moving to Sioux City in 1942.

She married Roy Anderson and was later married to Ralph Dunlap on Sept. 2, 1945. Mr. Dunlap was the greenskeeper at Morningside Country Club. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1975, in Sioux City.

Norma worked for Jewel Tea Co. as its rural delivery truck driver for many years. She then worked on the assembly line at Wincharger Corp. until its closing.

She was of the Protestant faith. Norma was an avid fisherman and bowler, bowling in many leagues through the years. She also participated in golf leagues during the summer and loved to visit.

Survivors include two sons, James and his wife, Mary Anderson of Sioux City, and Wendell and his wife, Judith Anderson of Roswell, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and longtime special friends, Paul Dunn and Ida Mae Backhaus, both of Sioux City.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Roy, Melvin and Art; and two sisters, Maude and Mimmie.
