19 December 2003Boneda "Bonnie" Bates, 94, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Countryside Retirement Home.
Private family services were held, where the Rev. Al Weiss of First Assembly of God Church officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Boneda "Bonnie" Bates was born May 10, 1909, in Minnesota, the daughter of William and Alice (Richards) Webb. She raised there until moving to Sioux City, where she was a long-time Sioux City resident.
She married Stanley L. Bates on March 21, 1932. He preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1992. She had worked as a sales clerk at J.C. Penney Co. for a few years, but mostly stayed home and raised her family.
She was a member of Hills Assembly of God Church in South Sioux City. She loved to sew, making most of her own clothes and those of her family's. She loved to work in her garden and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Gordon and Pat Bates of Casper, Wyo.; three daughters, Beverly and her husband, Tim McCann ,of Arvada, Colo., Joyce Collins of Greeley, Colo., and Judy and her husband, David Attrill, of Hinton, Iowa; a brother, Russell Webb of Sioux City; a sister, Wava Farley of Sioux City; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Emma Webb; and four brothers, William, Woodrow, Marion and Gerald Webb
