17 December 2003Cynthia Claire Legerski-Walding, 72, of 2524 Oakridge Dr. SW in Rochester, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Episcopal Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Nicklas Mezacapa officiating. Private burial will be at a later date. Her body has been donated to the Mayo Medical Center. Visitation with the family will be during the luncheon following the service Saturday. There will be a memorial service held in Sioux City in the spring of 2004.
Mrs. Legerski-Walding was born and raised in Chicago. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated with a major in piano from Briar Cliff College in Sioux City. She was a homemaker, a General Education Diploma teacher and job counselor in Sioux City.
She was a 32-year member of the Appalachia Committee of Ames, Iowa. She was active with Girl Scouting and directed various choirs. She enjoyed reading, playing the organ and camping at Armstrong Creek, Wis.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Ed, a retiree of US West; two daughters, Loretta (Steve) Dickes of Rochester, and Jennifer Walding of Eagan, Minn.; two sons, Paul (Deanne) Walding of Rochester, and Carl (Cindy) Walding of Masonville, Colo; three grandchildren, Aaron, William and Elizabeth; an aunt, Mrs. Paul (Anne) Legerski of Florence, Wis.; and a cousin, Sally Wenzelow.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Eric; three sisters; a brother; and her beloved aunts, Helen and Lottie.
Memorials may be sent to Calvary Episcopal Church in Rochester, Habitat for Humanity or the Heifer Project
