SERGEANT BLUFF | Brian J Pint, 62, formerly of Sergeant Bluff, passed away on April 2, 2014 in Seattle, Wash.

A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Ave, in Sioux City. Immediately following the service there will be a luncheon at Aggies, 107 Sergeant Square Drive, in Sergeant Bluff.

Brian was born in Norfolk, Neb., on Jan. 16, 1952. He grew up in Pierce, Neb. and graduated from Pierce High School in 1970. He earned a bachelor's degree of elementary education in Kearney, Neb., and a master's degree and a specialist degree in administration from Wayne State College. Brian worked in education for more than 36 years , teaching in Bartley and South Sioux City. Brian's mission was for all of his students to excel in reading and he worked tirelessly to accomplish that goal. He also served as principal in Newman Grove and Norfolk, Neb.

Brian and Carolyn Pint were married on May 26, 1984, and were nearly inseparable throughout their 30 years of marriage. Most of their married life was spent in Sergeant Bluff. After both retired in 2010, they relocated to Lacey, Wash., where they joined their son and grandchildren.

Brian loved playing with his two grandchildren, Luke and Savannah. He was passionate about The Beatles, the Huskers, and sports, both as a spectator and participant. The competition was on when he played basketball, golfed with his son or played cards with his dearest friends. Brian enjoyed identifying and collecting fossils and visiting historical parts of the United States. He took an avid interest in the restoration of the family Model A Ford Coupe. Brian maintained it meticulously and drove it proudly. Luke and Savannah loved honking the horn when they went for a ride with Grandpa Brian.

Brian is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his son, Adam Peters; grandchildren Savannah and Luke Peters; his mother, Darlene Pint; his sister, Susan (Jim) Jones; his brother, Tim (Sharron) Pint; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Carrol Pint.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be used to establish scholarship funds at South Sioux City and Sergeant Bluff High Schools to honor Brian's commitment to education.
