Faye Evelyn Mahin, age 92, of Correctionville, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2011 at the Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center of Correctionville. Funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville with the Rev. Clif Cockburn officiating. Soloist were Mark, Sue, and Sam Jenkins.

Pallbearers were Ross Whitesell, Rick Whitesell, Ron Whitesell, Sam Jenkins, Tim McCormick, and Mark Jenkins. Burial was at the Correctionville Cemetery of Correctionville. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville is in charge of arrangements.

Faye Whitesell was born February 24, 1919 near Correctionville, one of eight children born to Edward William and Nellie Mae (Jones) Whitesell.
She married Lee "Hiney" Mahin on December 2, 1935 in Elk Point, South Dakota. When they were first married they lived in Correctionville, later moving to California for about a year, then returned to Correctionville. Hiney passed away in August 1984.

Faye loved animals, especially dogs. She always had a dog from the time she was a small child. She enjoyed country music, cooking, playing aggravation, horseback riding and playing with her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiney; her parents; three brothers, Ross, Les and Guy Whitesell; and four sisters, Erma Brown, Pearl Hanson, Ruth Downey and Nina Kirchner.

Survivors include a foster daughter, Janet (Sam) Jenkins of Washta; and many nieces and nephews.
