27 July 2011Marjorie Lorenzen, 84, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Sioux City, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 23, 2:00 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, Iowa with Pastor Cliff Cockburn officiating. Wren Smith served as the accompanist. John Lorenzen and Katie Lessmeier played a saxophone duet.
Pallbearers were Ed Nelson, Tim Nelson, John Lorenzen, Kyle Lessmeier, David Lorenzen and Darin Lorenzen.
Honorary pallbearers were Jason Ruring, Ron Lorenzen, Jr., Brady Todd and Tayler Todd. Interment was at the Good Hope Cemetery, Correctionville, IA under the direction of Armstrong Funeral Service.
Marjorie Irene Lorenzen was born November 7, 1926, to Oliver and Leona (Hansen) Wilson at Onawa, Iowa. As a child, the family moved to the Smithland, Iowa area, then to Ticonic, Grant Center, and Castana, Iowa.
Marjorie married Clarence Henry Lorenzen on June 21, 1946, in Onawa, Iowa. The couple then moved to Rodney, Smithland, and then to the Oto area where they farmed for 35 years. After retiring from farming in 1980 they moved in to Oto.
She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, and horse riding. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. After Clarence passed away, Marjorie moved to Washta, Iowa in 1995.
She had six children, two girls and four boys, Beverly and Fred Waugh of Washta, Iowa, Sharon and Mike Todd of Cleghorn, Iowa, Ronald and Pat Lorenzen of Sioux City, Iowa, Raymond and Sue Lorenzen of Holstein, Iowa, Keith and Shellie Lorenzen of Sioux City, Iowa, and Brian and Janelle Lorenzen of Cushing, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister Argene and Larry Meyers of Correctionville, Iowa; one brother Richard and Arlene Wilson of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; and one sister-in-law, Lena Lorenzen of Seattle, Washington.
Along with her husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law Craig Ruring; two grandsons, David Waugh and Tony Lorenzen; two brothers, Bobby and Eugene; and one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Crawford.
