Alice E. Warner
Alice E. Warner, age 94, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at her residence in Omaha, Nebraska. A memorial service was held at Trinity Lutheran Church of Omaha with the Rev. John Backus officiating.
Pallbearers were Greg Warner and Jay Warner. Burial was at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.
Alice Elaine Warner was born August 6, 1917, the daughter of Elsie I. (Benedix) and William F. Hoppe. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Correctionville. She graduated from Pierson High School, obtained her teaching certificate from Wayne State College, Nebraska, and later received her degree from University of Nebraska at Omaha. She began her teaching career at a rural school near Sioux City. She also taught at Onawa and in Ireton and Correctionville during and after WWII.
On March 16, 1940, Alice married her high school sweetheart John H. "Jack" Warner. They were blessed with three children, Joel, Greg and Sally.
Alice, Jack and Joel moved to Omaha in 1948 where Alice taught in the Omaha school system, retiring in 1985.
Alice was a member of the Dorcas Circle at Trinity Lutheran, was a volunteer in the reading program at Ponca Elementary School, and volunteered for many years at the Alegent Health Immanuel Hospital gift shop in Omaha.
Alice is survived by son Greg (Sandy) Warner of Cody Wyoming, daughter Sally Dale of Omaha Nebraska; grandchildren Stephanie (Peter) Beal of Davenport, Florida, Jay (Kristin) Warner of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Lacey Murray of Riverton, Wyoming, Gretchen (Kyle) Fougler of Powell, Wyoming, and Haley Dale of Omaha, Nebraska; and five great grandchildren Kayla Beal, Jack Warner, Campbell and Isabel Fougler, and Sam Murray.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, son Joel Warner, daughter-in-law Sharron Warner, grand-son-in-law Casey Murray, and brother Melvin F. Hoppe.
