27 March 2002Ray Thorpe, 83, of Sioux City, formerly of Kansas City, Kan., died Sunday, March 24, 2002, in Sioux City.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Butler-Fulton-Nickel Funeral Home in Kansas City. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Sioux City arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Mr. Thorpe was born Aug. 2, 1918, in Kansas City, the son of Thomas Jackson and Bertha Maude Thorpe.
Survivors include a sister, Grace Englebrake of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Thorpe of Kansas City, Kan.; his first wife, Gladys Bauman Thorpe Ford of Aberdeen, S.D.; his children, Gail Wescott of Sioux City, Ruth Kobes and her husband, Bob of Sioux City, Michael Thorpe and his wife, Shirley of Brenham, Texas, Frederick Thorpe and his wife, Elaine of Roseville, Calif., Kathy Thorpe of Aberdeen, S.D., and Colleen Trego and her husband, Craig of Aberdeen; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Fred and Jack; and his half brothers, Leonard and Dale.
