Walter C. Parsley was born January 26, 1894 at Ashley, Ill. and passed from this life at his home in Sloan, Iowa on February 3, 1972. Death came at the age of 78 years.

Mr. Parsley chose farming as his vocation and served in this work in the Sloan Community for, over 35 years. He retired from the farm in 1963 and moved into Sloan to make his home.

On December 24, 1921 he was united in marriage with Muriel Burgess at Sioux City, Iowa.

During World War I, he answered the call of his country and served in the Rainbow Division of the United States Army. He was a member of the Emery Johnson Post Number 481 of the American Legion at Whiting.

Survivors include his wife, Muriel of Sloan; one son, Walter K. of Sloan; four daughters, (Doris) Mrs. Keith Frame, of Lodi, Calif., (Marjorie) Mrs. Herbert Robley of Salix, Iowa, (Judy)Mrs. Daniel Jones of Turin, Iowa and Shirley Stevens of Colorado Springs, Colo.; there are 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Services wee held at 1:30 Saturday, February 5, 1972 at the Wood Funeral Home at Whiting, Iowa with the Rev. E. E. Epperson officiating. Gilbert Smith was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Arnold Brenden.

Casket bearers were Keith Robely, Michael Robely, Timothy Robely, Gary Robely, Dean Frame, and Daniel Jones. Military rites were conducted at the Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Springs by the American Legion Post No. 481 of Whiting, Robert Bearce , commander. Arrangements were by the Wood Funeral Home of Whiting,
