SIOUX CITY | Margaret Ann Warner Schwinn Lennon of Sioux City passed peacefully Saturday, July 6, 2013, after a brief illness.

A celebration of her life will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 1915 Nebraska Street, in Sioux City, hosted by her dear friend, the Rev. Roger Madden. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Margaret was born on March 7, 1925, to Karl Redfield Warner and Catherine Lucille Shea Warner, in Sioux City. She attended Hunt School, North Junior High and graduated mid-term from Central High School in 1943.

She married Robert Schwinn on June 11, 1949. A lifelong Sioux City resident, she made her career as a homemaker, mother and volunteer.

Margaret was a sustaining member of the Junior League, past president of the P.E.O. Chapter EY and a member of First Methodist Church, where she participated in the Harmony Circle. She volunteered for many years at the St. Luke’s Auxiliary, the June Nylen Cancer Center and the Relay for Life.

Margie was taught by her father to play golf and continued this passion long into her 80s. She played bridge with friends her entire life. She loved to entertain friends, take long walks, and tend her flowers. She never missed the beauty of a sunset, sunrise or a rolling thunderstorm.

She is survived by her sons and their wives, Bob and Sharman Schwinn of Littleton Colo., and Greg and Lenette Schwinn of Lincoln Neb.; grandsons, Peter of Breckenridge Colo., Graham and wife, Ashley of Seattle Wash., and Jacob of Denver Colo.; her surviving siblings include, Karl and Betty Warner of Iowa City, Iowa, Mary Ellen (Mitzi) LaMaster of Wheaton Ill., and Keith and Patty Warner of Minneapolis.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Maureen Bringle; first husband, Bob Schwinn (2003); and second husband, Fred Lennon (2010), whom she married in 2009.

Often described in her high school yearbooks as a swell gal, Margaret Ann graduated into a world at war and wrote many of her classmates and friends as they were sent to distant lands. Always known for her smile, she became an integral part of the rich tapestry of post-war Sioux City life. She will be missed by many as those who went before her are missed as well.

Memorials will be directed to the Church Ministries at First United Methodist Church.
