SIOUX CITY | Jim Marshall, 52, of Sioux City died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., following a brief battle with cancer.

Per his wishes, the body was cremated. Burial will be at a later date. There will be a prayer service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church in Sioux Falls. A remembrance gathering will be noon to 3 p.m. Sunday in Bacon Creek Park Shelter 1 in Sioux City.

Jim was born on Sept. 29, 1960, in Sioux City, to Cora Wilkinson. Jim attended Sioux City Schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1977. He received an honorable discharge. Jim was briefly married and from that union they had a daughter, Amber Wilkinson. Jim was a truck driver for most of his life.

He enjoyed being outside, walking, biking, grilling, just working in the yard and just being with family and friends. The one joy in his life was being a Papa to his granddaughter, Mia. He called her his little angel. She brought so much love and joy to his life.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Amber Wilkinson; granddaughter, Mia Schroeder; his "Cuz", Tammy Mount and her husband, Jerry; and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Cora Wilkinson; and his brother, Bobby Wilkinson.

He will deeply missed.
