Alvin Marvin Wieck, 86, of Sioux City formerly of Correctionville died on Thursday, March 7, 2002, at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, Sioux City, IA.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 12, 2:00 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville with Rev. Sheryl K. Ashley officiating. Annabel Camarigg served as organist with Denise Knaack as vocalist. Pallbearers were nephews Garlyn Wieck, Gary Dicus, Rick Dicus, Mike Dicus, Terry Waugh, Steve Waugh, Kirk Waugh and Stan Ortmeier. Honorary pall-bearers were Leonard Todd, Jerry Schell, Leland Frost, Terry Mammen, Ray Miller and Russel Dixon. Raymond and Darlene Walker were in charge of flowers. Bob Knaack, Ray Knaack and Pete Stines arranged cars.
Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery, Rock Branch, IA. under direction of Barker Funeral Service.
Mr. Wieck was born June 28, 1915 on a farm near Correctionville to August and Tillie (Knaack) Wieck. He married Opal Waugh on September 15, 1944 in LeMars, IA. They farmed in Kedron and Rock Townships until he retired in 1995. The couple then lived south of Correctionville. He enjoyed farming, carpenter work, traveling, fishing, gardening and playing cards.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he served as head usher for years. He was also a member of the Correctionville Builder's Assoc., Woodbury County REC, Co-op Inc., and Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife, Opal; a daughter, Rhonda; a sister Fern Creek and numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Earl, Roy, Merle and Elmer.
