8 December 2009SIOUX CITY -- Mary A. Gitchell, 73, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at a care facility in Sergeant Bluff.
Services will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at Four Corners Church in Sioux City. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Cemetery, Alton, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.
Mary was born on Aug. 6, 1936, in Des Moines, the daughter of Carl and Geniveve (McGuire) Harriman. She graduated in 1954 from St. Mary's Catholic School in Alton, Iowa. She worked at the Sioux City's Boys Club, and also tended bar at the Palm Tap, Peggy's and Main Liner.
Mary is survived by her sons, Robert William Gitchell, Curt Eugene Surrel and Michael Neal Breman; 13 grandchildren; and one brother, Jack Harriman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Jim Harriman.
