SIOUX CITY -- T. Louise Claussen, 92, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Casa de Paz Nursing Home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Charles B. Wolff officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Louise was born July 19, 1917, on the family farm in Galva Township, Ida County, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Alma (Weiner) Streed. She was raised in the Galva, Iowa, area. She attended Diamond Township Grade School 8 and graduated from Galva High School in 1935. She received her degree in education from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa. After receiving her teacher's certificate, she taught in country schools in the Galva area. During the war years, she lived in Omaha, where she worked at an industrial plant. She then moved to Sioux City, where she worked for Sioux Tools.

She married Earl J. Claussen on June 12, 1945, in Elk Point, S.D. After their marriage, the couple moved to Jefferson Township, S.D. She and her husband operated the Claussen Trucking Farm and Greenhouse and Nursery from 1945 to 2006.

She was a member of Riverside Lutheran Church and the funeral dinner committee. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to greenhouse conventions. She was an avid reader and enjoyed writing letters to friends and family.

Survivors include her husband, Earl J. Claussen of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Dale and Helen Claussen of McCook Lake, S.D.; a daughter and her husband, Patsy L. and Larry Johnson of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Christine Johnson, David Johnson and his wife, Laura, and Leslie Claussen; five great-grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Aaron, Tyler and Courtney Johnson; her sister, Gladys Albers of Cherokee, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Yvonne Streed of Perry, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Fred Bruns of Sac City, Iowa, and John Claussen of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Marie Cline, Alice Streed and Doris Bruns; and two brothers, George Streed and Ted Streed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be directed to the Riverside Lutheran Church.
