Donald C. Loker, 83, of Sioux City died Friday, March 1, 2002.

No services are scheduled. Burial will be in at a later date. Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Laker was born Sept. 21, 1918, in Elk Point, SD., the son of Casper Eli and Bertha C. (Clay) Laker. He married Marie Elizabeth Baker on Aug. 21, 1938, in Vermillion, S.D. He attended school in the Elk Point area. He was a resident of Sioux City for more than 60 years. He was employed with the Sioux City Journal for 48 years.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing and camping.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Richard and Toni Laker of South Sioux City; a daughter, Connie Spahn of Sioux City; a sister, Grace Nelson of Sergeant Bluff; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald Gordon Loker; two brothers, Leonard and Elmer Loker: and a grandson, Jeffrey Ray Spahn.
