John D. "Jack" Bradley, 69, of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, died of cancer Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997, at the McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. Burial will be in Hills of Rest Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Bradley was born June 8, 1928, in Sioux Falls, the son of Donald and Hazel (Samelson) Robertson. He was raised in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Worra War II and the Korean War. He operated a motorcycle delivery service. He moved to Gary, Ind. in 1953, where he was employed as a manager with Frank Shoes. He then moved to Sioux City and began his 28 year employment with Brown Shoe Company.
He married Edith Sheldon on May 12, 1961, in Luverne, Minn. the couple made their home in Sioux City. In 1974, they moved to Salt Lake City, where he managed several retail departments of the Brown Shoe Company. He retired in 1990, and returned to Sioux Falls. Following his retirement, he worked as a tire salesman with Sears and for the Sioux Falls Auto Auction in Tea, S.D.
He was a member of Sunnycrest United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a past president of the Utah Conpor. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, where he served as president of the Utah State Moose Association, the Legion of the Moose, 25 Club and 50 Club. He received his Fellowship degree in 1979 and his Pilgrim Degree of Merit in June 1985. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports.
Survivors include his wife; four sons and their wives, Mike and Kim Shipley of Sioux Falls, Charlie and Stephanie Shipley, of Paonia, Calif., Van and Judy Archenbrenner of Arvada, Colo. and Stanley and Twila Shipley of Salt Lake City; four daughters, Laurie and her husband Glen Swanson of Hastings, Neb., Barbara and her husband Paul Crapo and Kathy Novosel, all of Salt Lake City and Sandy and her husband Russell Thompson of Sioux Falls; a brother and his wife, Tom and Luz Robertson of Spearfish, S.D.; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
