SIOUX CITY | Jan Einar Albertson, 74, of Denver, Colo., formerly of Sioux City, died June 30, 2013, after a brief illness.

Jan was born on Aug. 7, 1938, in Sioux City, son of Oscar F. and Lillian Albertson. He attended Shattuck High School in Faribault, Minn., and graduated from Morningside College in 1961.

Jan married Susan D. Knott on Aug. 23, 1958, in Sioux City. They were married until her death on May 24, 2002. Jan was part owner and secretary treasurer of Sioux Tools Inc., where he worked for more than four decades until briefly after the company’s sale in 1994. On Sept. 24, 2003, Jan married Lyn Mayne of Denver.

A 33rd degree Mason, he was an active member of Tyrian Lodge No. 508, the Scottish Rite Temple and the Abu Bekr Shrine, all of Sioux City. He particularly enjoyed golfing, traveling and theater.

Survivors include his wife, Lyn Albertson of Denver; three children, Stephanie (Dan) Lenartz of St. Paul, Minn., Cynthia Albertson of Key Largo, Fla., and Christopher (Gloria) Albertson of McKinney, Texas; two stepchildren, Annie (Chris) Bement of Denver, and William Schmausser of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and five grandchildren, Andrea and Grant Lenartz and Parker, Paige and Peyton Albertson.

Jan was preceded in death by his parents and by his first wife, Susan.
