Donald F. Beers, 77, of Mapleton, Iowa died August 15, 2008 at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.

Services were Tuesday, August 19, 10:30 a.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton with Pastor Kurt Seboe officiating.

Pall-bearers were Robert Arvin, Wesley Arvin, Nathanial Beers, Eric Davis, Jary Vermeys and Keith Saxen.

Burial was in the Correctionville Cemetery at Correctionville, Iowa with military graveside honors provided by the American Legion Loren Hollister Post #496 of Mapleton under direction of Armstrong Funeral Service.

Donald Francis Beers was born March 3, 1931, at Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Wesley Arthur and Amanda (Giffrow) Beers.

He moved with his family first to the Cushing-Pierson, Iowa area and later to a farm near Anthon, Iowa. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marines. Upon his honorable discharge in 1952, he moved back to farm the family farm near Anthon. On July 12, 1953, Don married Joan Blewitt at Schaller, Iowa. Later, Don operated Beers Well Drilling and was in car sales for a number of years. He married Helen Seggerman who died June 7, 2004.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served as an E.M.T. in Kingsley, Iowa.

Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Sandra and Tony Davis of Mapleton, Iowa; one son Randall and his wife, Laurie of Anthon, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three sisters, Beverly Arvin and her husband, Maurice, of Moville, Iowa and Bonnie Saxen and her husband, Danny, of Pierson, Iowa; and Vera Madison of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Along with his second wife, Don was preceded in death by his parents.
