SIOUX CITY | Christine Marie (Miller) Sandau of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died June 8, 2013, at her home with her family by her side.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home and Crematory in Council Bluffs. Immediately following the memorial service, a luncheon will be served in the community room at the funeral home. Upon conclusion of the lunch, the cortege will leave for burial in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Chris was born on Dec. 28, 1957, to LeRoy Miller and Ila (Kunkle) Miller-French. She married Roger Sandau on Oct. 17, 1981 in Vermillion, S.D.

Chris and her husband Roger have two sons, Jacob and Roger, both of Sioux City. The couple started Sandau Bros. Sign Company in 1985, where Chris was an essential partner and manager. She was a brilliant bookkeeper, payroll clerk, office manager and organizer. Her husband Roger considered her the brains of the business.

Chris also loved Saturdays in the fall watching the Huskers with her husband and friends in the garage. Chris was a special person to so many in her life. Her most prized possession was her family and she would even say, "If you weren’t my family, I’d pick you." She was generous, loyal, stubborn, non-judgmental and predictable. She will live in our memories and our hearts forever.

Chris is survived by her husband, Roger; their two sons, Jacob and Roger; a sister, Sandy Miller; a brother, Rick and his wife Rita Miller of South Sioux City; brother-in-law, Tom and his wife Kathy of Elk Point, S.D.; sister-in-law, Sharisue Wilcoxon and husband Frank of Sioux City; sister-in-law, Becca Sandau of South Sioux City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; her brother-in-law, Jake Sandau; her niece, Jackie Lincoln; and her sister, Sharon Kay Widner.

The family wishes to express their great appreciation for the care, compassion and expertise of the doctors and nurses at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Gentiva Hospice of Council Bluffs.

Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.
