SIOUX CITY | Helen Marie (Stoeber) Sullivan, 98, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Sioux City, passed away June 20, 2013, in Columbus.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Egan-Ryan Northwest Chapel, 4661 Kenny Rd., Columbus, Ohio. Burial will be held later in Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Visit www.egan-ryan.com to offer condolences.

Helen Marie Stoeber Sullivan was born Oct. 27, 1914, at home in Remsen, Iowa, to Albert Henry and Elizabeth Kathryn (Heuertz) Stoeber. As her family moved frequently, she attended schools in Waterloo, Marshalltown, and Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated with high honors from Le Mars High School in Le Mars, Iowa.

After high school graduation, Helen worked for Dr. Gerald Fish and Dr. Sebastian Carnazzo for seven years in Le Mars. Helen started at Albertson’s in Sioux City in 1942, where she was a payroll clerk for 15 years, and then an office manager for 15 years.

Helen married Russell Sullivan at Blessed Sacrament in Sioux City on March 11, 1972. Helen was involved in Quota Club for 40 years, charter member of Sioux City Lioness, and board member of the Community Theater. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and active in her church, Blessed Sacrament in Sioux City. She volunteered many years at a hospital in Sioux City in the gift shop.

The past 10 months, Helen and her sister, Margaret have lived together at Crown Pointe Care Center in Columbus, Ohio. The staff there referred to them as "our golden girls." Helen is the oldest of five siblings, Margaret, Lorriane, Dorothy and Robert.

She is survived by her sisters, Margaret Schumacher of Dublin, Ohio, Dorothy Anderson of Meridian, Miss., and brother, Robert (Betty) Stoeber of Spencer, Iowa. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Barbara (Conrad) Coberly and John Sullivan; three stepgrandchildren, Catherine (Jon) Veldhuis, Michael Sullivan (Michele Aldape) and Christopher Coberly; five great-stepgrandchildren, Katy, Taylor and Annie Veldhuis, and Madeline and Brock Sullivan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Henry and Elizabeth (Heuertz) Stoeber; her husband, Russell Sullivan; her sister, Lorraine Steele; her stepson, Gary Sullivan; and stepdaughter, Linda Fischer.
