SIOUX CITY -- Blanche L. McDaniel, 88, of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, in Sioux Falls.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Burial will follow the service in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.

Blanche was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Moneta, Iowa, to Carl and Bernice (Osier) Kroeger. She attended high school in South Sioux City, graduating in 1940. In 1941, she was united in marriage to Delbert McDaniel, and from this union, a son, Kenny, was born. They made their home in South Sioux City, until her husband's untimely death in 1944.

In 1955, she moved to Seal Beach, Calif., where she was a secretary for Pioneer Flencoat for 30 years, retiring in 1986. She returned to Sioux City and was employed by Pred's Coats in the Southridge Mall until 1997. Upon full retirement in 1997, she moved to Sioux Falls.

Blanche will always be remembered as a beloved wife, a loving mother, a dear sister and a cherished grandmother. She was a loyal friend to many and a beloved aunt to her numerous nieces and nephews. Blanche was also an avid sports fan cheering on her favorite teams; among them, the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins.

Survivors include one son, Kenny (Irene) McDaniel of Long Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren, David and Krista; four great-grandsons, Jacob, Samuel, Jonathon and Scott; one great-granddaughter, Sabrina; one great-great-grandson, Peyton; one brother, Donald Kroeger of Reno, Nev.; three sisters, Delores (Vince) Kokenge of Sioux Falls, Darlene Milton of Sioux Falls, and Nancy Sturgeon of Porterville, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Char Kroeger of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Carlyle and Roger; one sister, Helen May Warden; and one grandson, Kenny Jr.
