SIOUX CITY -- Bernadette M. Schiefen, 93, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at her daughter's home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dan Guenther officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave.

Bernadette was born on June 13, 1916, in Ashton, Iowa, to Reinold J. and Katie (Leinen) Boor. After graduation she attended St. Joseph School of Nursing and Morningside and Vermillion College.

She was married to Vincent J. Schiefen on Feb. 12, 1944, in Hawarden, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1986, in Sioux City.

Bernadette was a past member of St. Boniface and currently a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, bingo, spending time with family and friends and most of all, living life to the fullest.

She is survived by her children, Paula (Darwin) Conley of Garland, Texas, Raymond Schiefen of Omaha, and Jana (Lonnie) Sargent of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rosalie Kroeger of Branson, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers; and three sisters.
