SIOUX CITY -- Duane L. Divis, 84, of Delmont, S.D., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Richard Weiman officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Delmont Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Duane was born May 29, 1925, in Verdigre, Neb., the son of Edward and Mildred (Malcolm) Divis. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.

He married Norma Steig on Jan. 4, 1946, in Sioux City. She preceded him in death in October 1971, in Sioux City. He then met Marlys Daugherty and they were together from 1977 until her passing in 2005. He farmed and drove truck before working at Tri-State Turkey Produce for 12 years. He then worked at Prince Hydraulics for 14 years until retirement.

He loved to go to auctions and was an avid collector. He was very handy, often taking something broken and making it work like new. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He was a very kind and caring man and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include six sons, Duane Jr. and his wife Sue of Hawarden, Iowa, Norman and his wife Diane of Sioux City, Dennis of Denver, Colo., Keith and his wife Ellen of Arvada, Colo., Kip of Rapid City, S.D., and Jeremy Daugherty of Delmont, S.D.; three daughters, Sally Gill of Sioux City, Dione Welker and Tripp, S.D., and Jody and her husband Steve Walker of Kansas City, Kan.; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Malcolm of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three wives; twin children at birth; two brothers; two sisters; and a grandson.
