SIOUX CITY -- Richard L. Thompson, 82, of Franklin, Tenn., formerly of Lebanon, Tenn., and Sioux City, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Lebanon, Tenn., with the Rev. Ken Edwards officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ligon and Bobo Funeral Home in Lebanon.

Richard L. Thompson was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Sioux City, the son of the late William Henry and Edna Evelyn (Hunt) Thompson. He was a municipal court clerk in Sioux City for many years.

He was a member of Christian Life Chapel in Lebanon.

Survivors include a son, Richard (Pamela) Thompson of Franklin, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Miriam (Jonathan) Edwards of Spring Hill, Tenn.; two grandsons, Jordan and Jared Thompson, both of Franklin; a sister, Barbara Jenkinson of Fullerton, Calif.; and two brothers, William R. Thompson of Sioux City and Wallace E. Thompson of Longmont, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Elmerna (Gaskins) Thompson.
