SIOUX CITY -- Barbara Kay Hayden, 56, of Ida Grove, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday Nov. 19, 2009, at her residence.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Charles B. Wolff officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Beresford, S.D. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the church. Waterbury Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara was born March 21, 1953, in Cherry Point, N.C., the daughter of Ronald E. and DonnaMae (Ronan) Paulson. She moved to South Dakota from North Carolina in 1953. In 1956, she moved to Sioux City and lived here until 1994, when she moved to Ida Grove. She attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Western Iowa Tech. She worked as a self-employed over-the-road truck driver until her health failed in 2002, when she retired.

Barbara enjoyed all crafts, and was an avid collector of miniature cows. She enjoyed spending time and cooking for family and friends.

She is survived by her four sons, Douglas Hayden of Camp Lejeuene, N.C., Leslie Clark and his wife, Courtney of Le Mars, Iowa, Tristin Hayden of Ida Grove, and Charles Hayden and his wife, Katie of Cherry Point, N.C., her father, Ronald Paulson of Sioux City; her brother, Greg Paulson of Storm Lake, Iowa; six grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, DonnaMae in 2006.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to her good friends, Beau Hanson and Terry Diimig, who assisted Barbara when her family could not be with her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in her name be made to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center, 230 Nebraska Street, Sioux City, IA 51101.
