Lyle D. Lewis, 75, of Sioux City died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at his residence, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Cornerstone World Outreach, with the Rev. Larry Gordon officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Lyle Dick Lewis was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Emerson, Neb., the son of Eleanor Lewis and Clifford Davis. he was educated in the Emerson School System. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1951, during the Korean Conflict.

He married Jeanette "Jean" Dawson on Dec. 4, 1951, in Worthington, Minn. To this union six children were born. He was the fire chief and a Boy Scout leader while the couple lived in Oto, Iowa.

He was a very active member of Cornerstone World Outreach in Sioux City.

Survivors include his six children and their spouses, Connie and Boyd Swearingen of Smithland, Iowa, Lyle H. and Janis Lewis of Jacksonville, Fla., Anglea and LeRoy Schroeder of Sioux City, Jeffrey and Chris Lewis of Gleenwood, Colo., Timothy and Brea Lewis of Sioux City, Stacy and Donald Payne of Smithland, Iowa; his wife, Jean; a sister and her husband, Mona and Ole Olson of Sioux City; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Benjamin David Lewis.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Terry, Jerry, Matthew and Scott Swearingen, Kelsey and Nickolas Stubbe, Dayton, Clifford, Daniel and Robby Lewis.

The family suggests memorials to Cornerstone World Outreach.
