SIOUX CITY -- Karen May Kyker, 74, of Denton, Texas, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at her residence after a lengthy illness.

Private family services are planned for a later date.

Karen was born Oct. 7, 1935, in Sioux City, to Chris and Ann Jorgensen. She married Charles T. Kyker on Feb. 18, 1966, in Sioux City. She retired after 20 years combined federal service with the Department of Defense and the USDA.

She was a Christian believer and a member of the Lutheran church.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Kyker of Denton; son, Christian Kyker of Denton; daughter, Lisa Johnson of Salinas, Calif.; and granddaughter, Miriam Johnson of Salinas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Sharen Campbell; and infant daughter, Louise Ann Kyker.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SPAN-Meals on Wheels, 1800 Malone, Denton, Texas 76201.
