SIOUX CITY | Gail F. Grimsley, 80, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Armand Bertrand officiate. Entombment will be in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Gail was born July 15, 1932, in Sioux City, the son of Samuel and Loretta (McGraw) Grimsley. Gail was a lifelong Sioux City resident, and he attended Trinity High School. He graduated from the first graduating class of Heelan High School in 1950.

Gail married Janet L. Heyl on May 8, 1954, in Sioux City. He worked for Thompson Electric for more than 30 years.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the I.B.E.W. Local 231 for 55 years. Gail enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and wintering in Texas for the last 15 years.

Survivors include his wife Janet of Sioux City; six children, Mary Hacker and her husband Charles of Sioux City, Jerry Grimsley and his wife Judy of Sioux City, Thomas Grimsley and his wife Gina of Sioux City, Ron Grimsley and his wife Brenda of Sloan, Iowa, Craig Grimsley and his wife Sonja of Bronson, Iowa, and Ann Benson and her special friend Gerry Hollis of Olathe, Kan.; a sister, Patricia Dimmick of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Betty Grimsley of Ankeny, Iowa; 21 grandchildren, Amy Hacker, Jenny Cramer, Britnee Jorgensen, Lindsay Hacker, Treye and Shay Hacker, Jaimee Grimsley, Kellee Hildreth, Lindee Brosamle, Jessica Barnes, Dylan Grimsley, Hannah Grimsley, Josh Grimsley, Holly Grimsley, Jordan, Alex and Hylarie Norpinghaus, Kellen Grimsley, Louden Grimsley, Morgan and Kendal Benson; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Gail was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Neil.

Pallbearers will be Joshua and Dylan Grimsley, Treye and Shay Hacker, Jordan Dorpinghaus and Charles Hacker

Memorial may be directed to Trinity Heights.
