PIERSON, Iowa -- Gladys V. Sparks, 72, of Sun City, Calif., formerly of Pierson, died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at Moreno Valley Community Hospital in Moreno Valley, Calif.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Cemetery, Pierson, with the Rev. Keith Pals of Pierson United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa.

Mrs. Sparks was born July 25, 1926, in Pierson, the daughter of John V. and Wilkie (Osborne) Youll.

She married Lyle E. Sparks on Dec. 2, 1946, in Des Moines. The couple moved to California. He died Nov. 1, 1979.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth of Glenwood, Md.; three daughters, Karen Kleinman of Bakersfield, Calif., Linda Rutigliano of Moreno Valley and Susan Utley of Temecula, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Pohl of Mannassas, Va., Thelma Whal of Pierson and Eleanor Murkin of Canby, Minn.; and three brothers, George, James and Ralph Youll, all of Sac City, Iowa.
