SIOUX CITY | Harley Montie Plum Sr., 72, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at his residence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. James United Methodist Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Ryan Christenson officiating. The body will be cremated following the funeral service. Military rites will be conducted at the conclusion of the service Friday by the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at the church. Harley was born in Sioux City, on May 19, 1940, the son of Monte C. and Hilda (Coil) Plum. He attended Sioux City Community Schools. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy following his education.

Harley was united in marriage with Georgia Stone on Sept. 12, 1961, in Sioux City. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Pinney Construction his entire life until his retirement in 2011.

He enjoyed his work, as well as his pets, gardening, entertaining friends and spending time with his grandchildren.

He will be missed by his family which includes his wife, Georgia; his sons, Harley Jr. of Sioux Falls, S.D., Rodney and his wife, Jennifer and Randy, all Sioux City; his daughter, Tammy Best and her husband, Jerry of Sioux City; his brother, Lyle Plum of Phoenix, Ariz.; his 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Maurice.
