Howard W. Coy, 86, of Sioux City died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Holy Spirit Assisted Living Facility.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Larkin Northside Funeral Home.

Mr. Coy was born July 10, 1915, in Arlington, S.D. He was raised in South Dakota. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe from 1943 to 1946.

He married Rose Muldoon on July 6, 1946 in England. The couple were blessed with 10 children. Following his discharge, they moved to Sioux City.

He later married Ann Sun in Sioux City. She died April 10, 1997, in Winnebago, Neb.

He had been employed with a packing company for a number of years before starting his own produce company and operating it for some time. Then before retiring in 1977, he drove,a truck for a local trucking company.

He was a member of The Church of All Nations.

Survivors include two sons, James Coy and his wife, Joann of Sioux City and Patrick Coy of Virginia Beach, Va.; six daughters, Teresa Preston of Sioux City, Mary Preston and her husband, Michael of Sioux City, Linda Coy of Sioux City, Janet Vanderheiden and her husband, Dan of Laurel, Neb., Dawn Coffee and her husband, Wes of Vermillion, S.D., and Kimberly Coy of Sergeant Bluff; two brothers, Dwayne Coy of Birmingham, Ala., and Clair Coy of Nicoma Park, Okla.; two sisters, Alva Adams of McCook, Neb., and Leona Jeanblanc of Dixon, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; two sisters; two children in infancy; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Koeppe.

Pallbearers will be Jason Coy, James Koeppe, Jon Vanderheiden, Dan Vanderheiden, David Preston and Michael Preston.
