SIOUX CITY - David J. Fox, 53, died unexpectedly at a Sioux City hospital on Thursday, December 6, 2007.

Visitation will be from 1:00 — 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, with the family present from 4:00 — 8:00 p.m. and a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2007, at the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple, 820 Nebraska St., Sioux City. Officiating will be Rev. Merrill Muller. Burial will be in the Willow Township Cemetery in Holly Springs, Iowa. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

David J. Fox was born on March 19, 1954 in Concordia, KS, to James and Lucille (Doyen) Fox. He grew up in the Holly Springs, IA, area and graduated from Westwood High School in 1973. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He served from June of 1973 to September of 1977 and was a military law enforcement officer.

He was a correctional officer for the State of Missouri from October 1977 to January 1981. He joined the Woodbury County Sheriff's Department in February of 1981 and has worked there for over 25years. He worked as a correctional officer, in the civil and warrants division, the investigations division, patrol division, the K-9 division and undercover narcotics. He served on the Iowa Department of Public Safety LEIN Executive Board, The Tri-State Drug Task Force Operations Board and The Child Protection and Advocacy Center Advisory Board.

David was Past Master of the Tyrian Masonic Lodge # 508 A.F. & A.M. and was a member of the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple and the Rat Patrol. He was also and Eagle Scout.

Family left to cherish his memory include a son, James Fox of Sergeant Bluff, IA; 2 daughters, Nicole Molden and her husband Christopher of Norfolk, NE, and Kristi Fox of Sergeant Bluff, IA; a brother, Mike Fox and his wife Kathy of Piedmont, SD; 2 sisters, Debbie Sulsberger and her husand Todd of Hornick, IA, and Sonya Hellmann and her significant other Manny Balingit of Santa Clarita, CA; and 7 grandchildren, Aliah, Alyssa, Alex, Michael, Chase, Kaylee and Courtney.

David was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Cherish.
