Darrell F. Connolly, 82, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at Embassy Rehabilitation and Care Center following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 9 a.m. today at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerald Hartz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Connolly was born Feb. 25, 1919, in Tracy, Minn., the son of Thomas R. and Juanita (Scott) Connolly. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. He graduated from Central High School in 1937. He married Geraldine M. "Tib" Keeley on Oct. 21, 1946, in Wakonda, S.D. She died Aug. 25, 2001, in Sergeant Bluff.

He lived most of his life in Sioux City. He was a livestock buyer and worked for Swift and Company, Wagner, Garrison & Abbott, and then fox Dubuque Packing Company for a combined total of 35 years.

He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

Survivors include a son, Patrick Connolly of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Mary Jeanne and David King of Dubuque, Iowa; three grandchildren, Kerry, Margaret and Bridget; a brother, Ronald C. Anderson of Sioux City; two half brothers, Karl Bonowski Jr. of Sioux City, and Laurence Bonowski of Henderson, Nev.; a half sister, Margo Caplinger of Old Hickory, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Margaret Mary; a son, Thomas; and a brother, John.
