SIOUX CITY -- Gertrude Belle Walters, 95, Bentonville, Ark., former Sioux City resident, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at The Gardens of Osage Terrace in Bentonville.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. The Rev. Dann Speichinger of Washington Heights Chapel will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gertrude was born on May 9, 1916, in Coleridge, Neb., the daughter of Louis and Daisy (Jordan) Stapleman. She married LaMonte Walters on March 11, 1935, in Coleridge. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1976. Gertrude worked as a wool presser for Gene Smith Cleaners and then went to work for Kresge's, from which she retired.

She is survived by one son, William "Bill" L. Walters and his wife Marlys of Bella Vista, Ark.; one daughter, Shirley Ducommun of Monument, Colo.; three sisters, Deloris Dunn of Salem, Ore., Bernice Harris of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Donna Fairchild of Burley, Idaho; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren, six stepgreat-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter-in-law, Janet Walters; and a son-in-law, Paul Ducommun.
