MOVILLE, Iowa -- Joyce M. Bergstrom, 86, of Moville passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at the Kingsley Nursing Home and Rehab care facility.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. Private graveside services will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Joyce was born the daughter of Arnold and Lillie (Lorenzen) Jensen on Jan. 20, 1925, in Sioux City. She grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1943.

Joyce married James O'Connor Sr. in 1943. She later married Richard Bergstrom in 1958. Joyce moved to Colorado in 1965 where she lived until moving to Moville, Iowa, in 2002.

She worked for North Suburban Printing in Colorado for many years as a graphic artist. She worked as a free lance graphic artist on many different projects. Joyce had several T.V. shows including, "At Home with Joyce O'Connor, " "Jo Jo's Playhouse" and a puppet show called "Mr. Boo and Mr. Shoo." She also created a Colorado Kids Activities page in the Denver Post which she maintained for many years.

She was a member of the Paletter's Club and was proud of the many ribbons she won in art shows. She won a logo contest for a place called Water World. She donated art to RMPBS for fundraisers. Entertaining children with her words and television shows was her biggest accomplishment.

Joyce is survived by two sons, Jim (JoEllen) O'Connor of Sioux City, and Jeff (Anita) O'Connor of Moville; two daughters, Kereen (Denny) Swanger of Moville, and Becky (John) Miller of Anthon, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Patricia Bergstrom of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Bergstrom; one grandson, Seth Swanger; and one great-grandson, Ethan Swanger.
