SIOUX CITY -- Janet Kay Parcell, of Pauma Valley, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, lost her eight-month battle with pancreatic cancer on Sept. 24, 2011, while surrounded by her loving family.

Memorial services in her honor were held Sept. 28 at LaJolla Fellowship Hall on Palomar Mountain.

Janet was born on Aug. 24, 1950, to Charles and Paddy Mallett in Sioux City. The former Miss Mallett graduated from Stewart's School of Hairstyling in Sioux City. She also attended community college for bookkeeping and accounting. She recently worked at Indian Health Clinic on Ricon Reservation in Valley Center, Calif., for a total of eight years.

She became Mrs. Ted Parcell in 1978. They raised two daughters and began enjoying life with their grandchildren.

Mrs. Parcell is survived by her husband, Ted Parcell of Pauma Valley; two daughters, Jamie Parcell of Pauma Valley, and Amanda (Chris) Payne of Oceanside, Calif.; her mother, Paddy Mallett of Pauma Valley; three grandsons, Christopher 9, Tristen, 6, and Austin 4, all of Oceanside; two sisters, Karen (Dale) Beckner of Springdale, Ark., and Cathy (Perry) Barnes of Sioux City; two brothers, Bill (Mary) Mallett of Salix, Iowa, and Brian Mallett of Sioux City; as well as nine neices and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her father, Charles Mallett.
