SIOUX CITY -- Arnold "Arnie" C. Olson, 76, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at a local hospital.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. David A. Choate officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Arnie was born Aug. 8, 1935, in Mapleton, Iowa, the son of Glen and Mary (Steinbach) Olson.

He married Patricia Willet on Sept. 15, 1954, in Sioux City. Arnie worked at Armours Packing Plant before he and Patricia owned and operated the bowling alley in Kingsley, Iowa, from 1977 to 1985. He also worked as a bartender for Blue Mill until retirement.

Arnie was an avid golfer, playing in Sun Valley Leagues for more than 25 years. He also loved playing cards with his friends. His greatest pride in life was his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; son, Jerrod and wife, Mary Beth Olson; three daughters, Camille and husband, John Farley, Jodi Rotert, and Malissa Peterson and significant other, Doug Pierce; 14 grandchildren, Krissy Haverland, Joseph and wife, Becca Farley, Jonathon and wife, Katie Farley, Jack Farley and fiancee, Amanda Grause, Calie Croston and fiance, Aaron Goertz, Bret Croston, Lauren Rotert, Andrew and wife, April Olson, Christopher Olson and fiancee, Abby Rose, Alex Olson, Ryan Olson, Caitlin Olson, Adam Peterson, and Abbie Peterson; seven great-grandchildren: Isaac, Emma, Kennedy, Hayden, Lincoln, Kaydance, and Betsy; and two sisters, Sonja Sigaty and Glenda Bousquet and her husband, Leo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeff Olson; son-in-law, Dave Rotert; and his twin brother, Arlo Olson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family.
