SIOUX CITY| Donald Jay Lapora, 71, formerly of Sioux City, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Jan. 20, 2013, in Bellevue, Wash.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Madeleine Sophie in Bellevue. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Wash. Arrangements are under the direction of Flintoft's Funeral Home and Crematory in Issaquah, Wash. A more complete obituary can be found at www.flintofts.com.

Don was born on Dec. 2, 1941, in Sioux City, to Ed and Ferne Lapora. He graduated from Central High School.

Don married Anne Rodriguez in 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1960. He earned a BS degree in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University and was commissioned as an officer in 1971. He went on to earn his MS in systems management, from USC in 1975. Don worked at Boeing for 18 years as a security manager for advanced projects.

He was a member of St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Anne; four children, Anne, Lisa Boucher (Bob), Don, and Jill McClure (Doug); six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his brother, Jerry and wife, Anne Lapora; wife’s mother, Tina Rodriguez; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara and brother-in-law, Wayne Max.
