Myrtle Towne, 93, of Sloan, Iowa, died Sunday, November 10, 1991 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting, Iowa.

She was, born December 26, 1897, at Hornick, Iowa, to William H. and Lulu (Konkle) Persinger. She graduated from Hornick High School. On December 31, 1921, she married Cyrus Huston Towne in Sioux City. He died August 12, 1989, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She bad been a resident of Clock Tower Nursing Home in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, from 1988 to 1990 when she moved to Pleasant View Nursing Home where she had been for the last year.

She was a member of the United Congregational Church of Christ at Sloan, the Athena Lodge Chapter O.E.S. #460 of Sloan where she was a Past Worthy Matron, and the American Legion Auxiliary of Sloan.

Survivors include; one son, Orville and his wife, Adah, of Salix; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents„ her husband, two sisters, and three brothers.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 1991, at the United Congregational Church of Christ in Sloan with Rev. Robert; W. Fritzmeier and Mr. Steve Jewett officiating.

Mrs. Glen Miltenberger, organist, played "The Old Rugged Cress" and "Amazing Grace".

Bearers were Ronnie Towne, Kermit Lee, Wayne Peterson, Jack Harrison, Maurice Brenden and Clifton Weber.

Interment was in then SLoan Cemetery with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
