SIOUX CITY | Vera P. Foley, 88, of Sioux City died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cathedral of the Epiphany, with the Rev. Patrick Behm officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Vera was born Sept. 25, 1924, in Randolph, Neb., the daughter of Lawrence and Minnie (Wilson) Barrett. She graduated from Waterbury High School in Waterbury.

She married Louis Jones and, with Louis in the military, they moved to Riverside, Calif. They moved back to this area after the war.

Louis died from injuries at work in 1949. In 1961, Vera married Samuel Abramo. He died in 1965.

She then married Thomas “Mike” Foley in 1966. He died in 1998.

Vera loved listening to music and going to dances. She also was very fond of bingo! Her family was her life, especially her grandchildren.

Vera was a longtime member of St. Boniface and a recent member of the Cathedral of the Epiphany.

Vera is survived by her four sons, Larry Jones and his wife Jeanne, Mike Abramo, Frank Abramo and Joe Abramo, all of Sioux City; her daughter, Theresa (Jones) and her husband Paul DeLange of Algona, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; two sisters, Vanetta Elgert and Dorothy Elgert; and two brothers, Elmer Barrett and Howard Barrett.
