SIOUX CITY -- Steven J. Rembe, 57, of Sioux City died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at his home.

Services will 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with Pastor Tom LoVan officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff. Steven was born Oct. 5, 1954, in Sioux City, the son of James and Lorna (Hageman) Rembe. He attended Lutheran School, Bronson School and Hayworth School. He graduated from East High School in 1974. While attending East, Steve excelled in woodworking, art and athletics, as well as being a member of the Black Raiders football teams. Steve was a very good football player and continued playing at Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, for two years.

Steve worked construction with his father, Jim, through high school and college. Following college, Steve started Steve Rembe Construction. He loved the work he did and he was good at it. Steve could build anything and always did it to perfection. He loved the outdoors, and shared many experiences and made many memories with his children. The biggest gift that he gave his children was his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, yard work and building with his bare hands.

One of the memories his children cherish is time spent in his homemade fishing shack.

Survivors include his son Josh (Angela) Rembe of Thornton, Iowa, his daughters, Jenny Rembe of Meservey, Iowa, and Jodi Rembe (fiancé Jason Petzoldt) of Green Bay, Wis.; three grandchildren, Aiden and Ethan (sons of Josh and Angela) and Anna (daughter of Jodi and Jason); siblings, Sandy (Kit) Curry of Gresham, Ore., Jim Rembe Jr. of Lawson, Mo., Deanna Cameron of Sergeant Bluff, Rick Rembe of Sioux City, Lisa Rembe of Sioux City and Lori Rembe of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jim in 1999; his mother, Lorna in 2010; and his sister, Deb Bagdasarian in 1998.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
