SIOUX CITY -- Carlajane Hodge, 66, of Des Moines, formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.

Services were held Dec. 13 at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines. Burial was in Glendale Cemetery. Arrangements was under the direction of Hamilton Funeral Home in Des Moines. Online condolences may be made to www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

She was born June 22, 1945, in Sioux City, to Arndt and Margaret (Spaustat) Gunderson.

Carlajane enjoyed fishing, sewing, crafts, flower gardens, and visiting with friends. She had a heart for God. Carlajane especially loved spending time with her family and all her grandchildren.

Carlajane is survived by her children, Troy Gunderson of Baraboo, Wis., Travis Johnson, Tammy (Brad) Hunt, Rob (Cassie) Strickler and Becky (Shane) Michael, all of Des Moines; grandchildren, Shauna Johnson, Jennifer Hall, Alex Gunderson, Allyson Walker, Amber Hunt, Jessica Wick, Ronald Hunt, Shelton Strickler, Samual Strickler, Kyrah Strickler, Harley Michael, TJ Taylor, Destini Taylor, Stormie Michael, Kenne Michael and Jenna Taylor; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Brent, Brendon, and Odin; siblings, Mike (Barb) Gunderson, Arny (Velma) Gunderson, Alma Gunderson, Lil Carlson, and Doug Gunderson; and many extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hodge; her parents; sister, Marcia Fischer; and grandnephew, Johnathan Fischer.
